The Crossroads Art Center is always free and open to the public, with a wide range of events and exhibitions available all winter long. One highlight of winter 2026 is the New Beginnings exhibition, showcasing art from gallery members through March 8, 2026. The theme of this exhibition highlights the moments of renewal, large and small, in everyday life, from quiet moments in nature to the joy of shared experiences with the people you care about most. The Crossroads Art Center will be open every Tuesday – Saturday for the duration of the New Beginnings exhibition.
Do you love exploring the work of local and regional artists? Then Radius 250 at Artspace just might become your favorite art exhibition this winter. This exhibition showcases the work of artists based in Richmond or from within 250 miles of the city. It's a juried exhibition, so artists will compete for the top spots, with prizes that help local artists showcase their work more widely. You can see this exhibition anytime through March 21, 2026, at Artspace.
Some Richmond galleries do an amazing job of showcasing local artists, while others take you on journeys around the world. The Elegba Folklore Society is focused on highlighting art, artifacts, home goods, fashion, and more from countries across Africa. Their current exhibition features work from Akande John, a Nigerian artist known for paintings featuring warmth, energy, and vibrant use of color. The Reynolds Gallery is a diverse space highlighting the work of local, national, and international artists, including students from VCU's top-ranked art program.
