Winter in and around Petersburg, Virginia can be an enchanting time for your whole family. While we cannot guarantee snow and cold temperatures, we can point you toward these five, delightful family destinations to keep your gang happy and feeling warm inside.

The community newspaper of Powhatan, Powhatan Today, holds an annual contest for readers to put their favorite local businesses in the spotlight, and Napier ERA is honored to have our agent Mike Williford voted the #1 Realtor in Powhatan!

From his great work for buyers and sellers to his connections with investors, builders, and people from all walks of life, Mike thrives on making lasting connections in the community. Mike has an infectious laugh and never fails to make folks smile. We are incredibly proud of Mr. Williford and love having him on the Napier ERA team. Congratulations on being voted first place in Powhatan, Mike!...

The holiday season always allows us to be grateful for our family. Your family is constantly changing whether it's with a brand new baby or a rescue dog. Now is the ideal time to document every member of your expanding family. Whether you're looking for newborn photos or lifestyle sessions with the family dog, our real estate agents can recommend their favorite family photographers in the Richmond area.
With thousands of real estate agents in the Central Virginia area, it's tough for any one agent to win an award from the Richmond Association of Realtors. That's why we're absolutely delighted to announce that Napier agents were honored four times at the recent Richmond Association of Realtors at the 2018 RAR Awards and Officer Installation.

Our first congratulations goes to David Hamil, winner of the 2018 LaVerne A. Boschen, Jr. Outstanding Educator of the Year Award for his commitment to education for the Richmond Association of Realtors. David works through the association to train and certify that all agents are up to speed on new regulations, legal requirements and a host of other requirements that any agent licensed in Virginia must adhere to. David has been a member of the Napier team for almost 18 years, having managed two of our offices (Mechanicsville and West End) and is now an associate broker at our West End office now. Thank you, David, for your years of service and dedication to teaching Realtors in our area.

Named for her outstanding commitment to community service is the managing broker of the Napier ERA Tri-Cities office, Libby Gatewood. Libby has been a licensed real estate sales associate in the Commonwealth of Virginia since 1979 and obtained her broker license in 1982. She is a licensed certified residential appraiser and a licensed real estate instructor. In addition to serving Napier agents and clients in the Colonial Heights, Petersburg and many other tri-cities communities, Libby is very active in serving her community through the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation and other charitable organizations. Libby received the C. Porter Vaughan, Jr. Outstanding Service Award for her faithfulness to the principles of organized real estate and community involvement. Libby was also inducted as the Vice President of the Board of RAR for 2019. We offer our congratulations and thanks to Libby for all that she does for breast cancer awareness and research as well as the commitment you have to upholding and enhancing the values of Realtors.
Last but certainly not least, a hearty congratulations to Dianne Long, winner of the coveted Realtor of the Year award! Winners are chosen based on their faithfulness to principles and laws of organized real estate, efforts to encourage good real estate practice among other real estate brokers, time spent with press and general public explaining the real estate profession, as well as their work with the Richmond Association of Realtors, the Virginia Association of Realtors, and the National Association of Realtors. Winners are also chosen on the basis of involvement in community affairs and their business accomplishments. Dianne has served on several committees and is a past recipient of the RAR Lifetime Membership award and Outstanding Sales Associate of the Year award. A Napier agent for more than 30 years, Dianne is known for serving with class, commitment, and a smile on her face. Congratulations, Dianne, for this prestigious award and thank you for contributing to Central Virginia's real estate market for many years. We are blessed to have you on the Napier ERA team.

One more note for this special night is for Cory Metts, who was accepted into RAR's distinguished Leadership Academy. The Leadership Development Academy is a six-month program designed to develop visionary, service-oriented Realtor members for professional, civic and community leadership roles, and those selected represent the cream of the crop of young Realtors. Cory is an alumnus of Longwood University and stays very active throughout the Central Virginia area in his work with the Young Leaders Board of World Pediatric Project, the YMCA board, and CAPITAL& Career Accelerator. We look forward to having Cory on our team for a very long time!
The 2018 RAR meeting and celebration was held at the beautiful Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. If you haven't gone to see their lights yet, make it a priority to go this holiday season. From Bob Ross to unicorns to a peacock, there are many beautiful light displays that will de-"light" you, your family, and friends. Check out the holiday-themed GardenFest here!
Thank you to RAR for recognizing real estate agents' hard work and commitment and hosting such a great evening celebrating the future of real estate. Congratulations to all honorees and officers. It is a distinguished privilege to work in a community of Realtors committed to advancing our communities and elevating the profession.
Don't forget to send your words of congratulations to our team on Facebook and Instagram. If you're interested in joining the award-winning Napier ERA team, please visit our recruiting website at joinnapierera.com!

Resolutions: We all make them. Unfortunately, according to U.S. News & World Report, we let roughly 80 percent of New Year's resolutions fail. They can be noble ("I'll get more exercise"), or they can be nagging ("I'll go to the gym tomorrow"). If you have the determination to keep a New Year's resolution to get in shape, here are six fitness centers in and near Henrico, Virginia that can help.
