Maymont - Richmond, VA

On the eve of its 100th anniversary, Maymont continues to be one of RVA's more beloved attractions for both locals and visitors. The 100-acre property, perched high above the James River, was once the stunning Gilded Age home of James and Sallie Dooley. The Dooleys bequeathed Maymont as a public space, featuring spectacular gardens such as:

  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Carriage House
  • Via Florum

Kids can get up close and personal with animals at Maymont Farm and spot bald eagles, deer, and other "residents" along the Virginia Wildlife Trail. Hours are 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. daily, and admission is free, although donations are welcome.
