Father's Day

Father's Day is right around the corner, and Central Virginia is rolling out the red carpet for dads. Whether your dad is all about classic cars, ballpark traditions, or soaking up local history, our region's diverse line-up of events makes it easy to plan a Father's Day weekend he'll never forget.

  • Father's Day Car Show & Craft Fair - Patawomeck Museum & Cultural Center, 638 Kings Hwy., Fredericksburg, VA 22405
Help Dad indulge his passion for classic cars at the Father's Day Car Show & Craft Fair. There will also be local artisans selling their crafts, food, and beverages for purchase, and activities for the kids. Hours are 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday, 6/14, and admission is $20.

  • Father's Day Whiskey & Wine - Riverside Vines, 3415 Leonards Lane, Sutherland, VA 23885
Treat Dad to some classic Southern BBQ with stunning views of Lake Chesdin during Father's Day Whiskey & Wine. Dine on a catered buffet and taste some whiskey or wine at dog-friendly Riverside Vines. Afterward, challenge the family to one of the lawn games or relax as you listen to live music. Mark your calendar for Sunday, 6/15 from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. Tickets are $55.

  • Father's Day Brunch - The Jefferson Hotel, 101 W. Franklin St., Richmond, VA 23220
Continue a family tradition or begin a new one with Father's Day Brunch at the historic Jefferson Hotel, a legendary spot not far from Richmond homes for sale. With omelet, carving, and seafood stations along with a salad bar, popular breakfast and lunch items, and a dessert display, you'll find something to satisfy everyone. Choose from four reservation times with two-hour seatings on Sunday, 6/15. Prices are $95 for adults and $45 for children ages 4-8. Online reservations are required.

  • Richmond Flying Squirrels - The Diamond, 3001 N. Arthur Ashe Blvd., Richmond, VA 23230
Buy Dad some peanuts and Cracker Jack when you take him out to the Richmond Flying Squirrels ball game. Bring a ball and gloves for a pre-game catch on the field from 12:45 p.m. to 1:05 p.m., while kids ages 14 and under can participate in a post-game run around the bases. First pitch against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies is at 1:35 p.m. on Sunday, 6/15, and tickets are $13-$19.

  • Bookbinder's Seafood & Steakhouse - 2306 E. Cary St., Richmond, VA 23223
Immerse Dad in RVA history with dinner at iconic Bookbinder's Seafood & Steakhouse. The venerable restaurant's roots date back to the end of the Civil War, when the original Bookbinder's opened in Philadelphia. Today, the Taxin family continues the legacy of the Bookbinder family in the early 20th-century American Cigar Building on Tobacco Row. Dine on top-quality steaks and fresh seafood out on the private patio, complete with a charming koi pond, or at one of the elegant indoor tables. Dinner is served on Sunday between 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.

  • Virginia Museum of History & Culture - 428 N. Arthur Ashe Blvd., Richmond, VA 23220
Share your local and regional pride with a visit to the Virginia Museum of History & Culture. Fascinating exhibitions currently on display include Give Me Liberty: Virginia & the Forging of A Nation, Landscapes of Virginia, and Virginia & the Vietnam War. Take a lunch or snack break on the outdoor patio of the Museum Cafe. All dads receive free admission on Father's Day, when hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Regular admission is $8-$12.
