Looking out over Richmond Raceway, you can almost hear the rumble of all the countless cars that have roared to victory or defeat on this iconic track. It's one of our real estate agents' favorite places in the city, and we have a feeling it might become one of yours, too.
Though it's changed in name and configuration many times over the years, Richmond Raceway has been a fixture of Richmond, VA in some form or another since the 1940s. And with NASCAR Races set to return to the raceway this September, now is a perfect time to plan a trip to this one-of-a-kind racetrack.
Richmond Raceway is a 0.75-mile, D-shaped, asphalt race track just outside of Richmond. Sometimes referred to as "America's premier short track," Richmond Raceway hosts the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and the NASCAR XFINITY Series. These, of course, are only the latest in a long line of events that Richmond Raceway has hosted, including 33 consecutive sold-out NASCAR Cup Series races.
There's nothing quite like the experience of watching a NASCAR event at Richmond Raceway, surrounded by the roar of the engines and 60,000 screaming fans. This particular raceway is also unique in that it is one of just a handful in the country that hosts all of its events at night.
Richmond Raceway hosts all kinds of events throughout the year – the Richmond Home and Garden Show, the Richmond RV Show, the Bizarre Bazaar and Southern Women's Show, just to name a few – but it is and will always be most famous for its races, which are some of the most thrilling in America.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and the NASCAR XFINITY Series are set to return to Richmond Raceway this September when the raceway hosts its first-ever playoff weekend. That makes right now the perfect time to get tickets and plan your visit before the Federated Auto Parts 400 (the second race of the first round of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series) hits Richmond.
Longtime fans of Richmond Raceway have something else to look forward to when September rolls around. As USA Today reports, the raceway is in the midst of major renovations, and fans who return in September will see a revamped infield with a state-of-the-art garage and walkway, brand new infield suites, and an enclosed bar and club with a covered rooftop deck that will offer a spectacular view of the racetrack.
